Advanced Placement

Advanced placement refers to a program approved by the College Board that allows high school students to take college level classes before they have graduated high school. These courses are counted for college credit if the student does well on the Advanced Placement tests that occur in May. When they start college, they will be awarded credit and start at a higher level than their freshman counterparts.

Taking advanced placement classes is a good way to save some money on your college education, because advanced placement classes are not as costly as traditional college level classes. If you are in a position to qualify to take advanced placement classes, consider doing so, and you will save money on your long-term college bill, and probably finish college a little faster than you would have without taking advanced placement course work. Your high school can give you information about taking advanced placement classes.
