Annual Membership Fee

An annual membership fee is the sum of money that is required every year to be part of certain organizations. Credit card companies, credit unions, student unions and organizations can all charge this fee. The annual membership fee can be charged by some credit card companies as an additional fee on normal credit card charges. Credit unions can sometimes charge membership fees in order to offer its members special rates and private educational loans. Student unions and organizations can all charge membership fees in order for the student to maintain membership.

Being part of organizations or financial lending companies can be important for students in order to have access to special deals or to have access to union privileges. Some organizations provide special student credit cards specifically for their members with lower interest rates as an incentive for membership. The annual membership fee is usually a very small amount of money and is automatically charged to the student unless they make contact with the organization beforehand canceling their membership.
